The outgoing Ram 1500 will be sold alongside the new model and will be billed as the 2019 Ram Classic.

Fiat Chrysler announced the move today, saying the previous generation Ram 1500 will be targeted at budget-conscious entry-level buyers and commercial fleet operators.

“As we launch the all-new 2019 Ram 1500, we didn’t want to walk away from a key part of the light-duty truck market,” said Ram boss Mike Manley. “Ram will continue to produce the 1500 Classic targeted at entry and commercial buyers.”

The truck will be offered as a regular cab, crew cab or quad cab. The regular cab will be available with an 8-foot or 6-foot 4-inch bed, while the crew cab is available with a 6-foot 4-inch bed. Crew cab models will be offered with a or 6-foot 4-inch or 5-foot 7-inch bed.

Available trim levels for the 2019 Ram Classic include Tradesman, Express, Big Horn/Lone Star and police-spec SSV.

The standard engine will remain the 3.6-liter Pentastar, with the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 also available as an option. Also offered will be the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel inline-six, although FCA says it won’t be available from launch.

The 2019 Ram Classic will be available to order from fourth quarter of 2018. Pricing has yet to be announced, but it should undercut the 2019’s price, which starts at $33,340 including destination.
